This Privacy Policy explains how PeakNab LLC ("we," "us," or "our") handles information in connection with the PeakNab mobile application (the "App"). We have designed PeakNab to collect as little personal information as possible.
PeakNab is a personal summit-tracking app. Your data is stored on your device and, if you choose to create an account, synced to your private account so you can access it across devices. We do not use analytics, we do not track you, we do not show ads, and we do not sell your data. The App does not access your location.
Account information. If you create an account, we collect your email address so we can authenticate you and sync your data. If you sign in with Apple, we may receive your name and an Apple-provided email address (which may be a private relay address if you choose to hide your real email). If you sign in with Google, we receive an authentication token through our sign-in provider. We never see or store your Google or Apple password. If you sign up with an email and password, your password is handled by our authentication provider and is never stored by us in a readable form.
Content you create. When you log a summit, we store the information you enter: the mountain, the date, and any notes you add about your climb or conditions. If you add a photo to a summit, the photo is stored on your device; a reference to it is saved with your summit record. You may also create custom peaks, which store the name, elevation, and coordinates you provide.
Account identifier. When you create an account, our authentication provider assigns you a unique user ID that we use to associate your synced data with your account.
We do not collect your precise or approximate location, contacts, phone number, mailing address, age, health or fitness data, browsing history, or purchase history.
We use the information above only to operate the App: to sign you in, to save and display your summits and custom peaks, and to sync that content to your account across your devices. We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or tracking.
Your summit logs and custom peaks are stored locally on your device so the App works without an internet connection. If you are signed in, that content is also synced to your private account in our cloud database so it is available on your other devices and is not lost if you change phones.
We rely on a small number of service providers to run the App. They process only what is necessary to provide their function:
We do not use any analytics, crash-reporting, advertising, or tracking services.
We do not track you across apps or websites, we do not access your device's advertising identifier, and we do not display advertising.
Your local data remains on your device until you delete it or remove the App. If you have an account, you can delete your account from within the App, which removes your account and the summit and custom-peak data associated with it from our cloud database. You may also contact us at the address below to request deletion.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, and to request that we restrict certain processing. You can exercise most of these rights directly in the App, or by contacting us at the address below. We do not sell personal information.
PeakNab is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
We use reputable providers for authentication and storage, and passwords are managed by our authentication provider and never stored by us in readable form. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the App.
